For what it's worth, I'm not planning on getting nearly as drunk as I did last time.
[and because he is the master of style, he at least doesn't have a sweater vest? just a polo shirt. but wow, he is amazing and everyone should appreciate his fashion.
or just god damn at Harley because she's getting started early, isn't she? but he did promise not to complain. instead;]
You were planning on letting me buy the drinks, right?
[as opposed to everyone else giving the appreciative glances.]
Probably not, but I'll give it a shot. [he'll most certainly try and flag down the bartender while they're on the way - as he said, he's not planning on getting quite as drunk, but he's certainly going to start with a scotch at least to brace him after the day's events.]
Well, calling me up for drinks on a Thursday night? Kinda transparent. Wish I could believe you just wanted to see me that much, but ... [ She shrugs. ]
[he looks at her a long moment...then sighs, rubbing the corner of his eye for a moment] I do consider you a friend, and I do owe you some drinks, among other things.
But after another student coming in, I decided to find an excuse for your company sooner than later.
Uh, wow. Only one of us has had to lay low in cheap hotel with mysterious burns, so who's trouble now?
[ Yeah. Yeah, she went there. If he's going to keep giving her lip -- the sass kind, not the smooch kind -- then she isn't going to just sit there and take it forever. ]
No, no- he was as wary of me as I was of him. [and he grows serious] He, and his friends...they said that something had been affecting him. Something in his head.
But you'll probably be glad to know I gave back the microbots. No more crawlies. [yes, he knows you didn't like them very much.]
[and he's quiet a moment, running a finger around the edge of the glass, looking in to the liquid before back up towards Harley and lowering his voice]
I trust you, so I'm going to tell you something, but it doesn't leave the two of us. Mainly because I think he's just looking for someone to blame, and it doesn't make any sense but...he was seeing Doctor Crane. And he's insistent that he had something to do with it.
[ She taps her fingernails against the side of her glass, frowning at the counter. ]
Look, just because it doesn't make sense, don't discount it outright. People are a lot more intuitive than we get credit for. Especially when it comes to threats.
[ And then she brightens up again. ]
I have a lot of books about it, if you want to read up on the subject!
I appreciate that. I never understood that kind of science- give me robots over people any day. [he'll accept the change - after all, he came here to be distracted, and mulling over it all doesn't really help with that]
text -> action?
see you soon
[ She'll show up at the bar a while later in short-shorts and, like, half a shirt. She's not teasing, it's just July in Florida.
... And also she's teasing. Little bit.]

Of course! I'm all yours.

but to his credit, he's only stiff for a split second before awkwardly wrapping his arms around her in a loose return of the gesture]
Here's hoping I can actually keep up with you!

...that's the other reason I'm here, I suppose. I had a conversation with the other party.

... Do you? If you're bleeding internally or something, I swear to god!

What kind of something?
[ Now he's piqued her professional curiosity. ]

[hey, look. drinks. he'll be taking his first sip, because if he's going to go any further in to this, he could definitely use it.]

I just can't figure out what he'd have to gain by it.
[he'll take another sip, letting it sit in his mouth before swallowing]
I won't say no. It could be interesting. [if it doesn't give him a headache]

[ Aaand subject changed. She is seriously so sick of Crane and his stupid work ruining everything. ]
